Performing Archive

Contributing Archives

As a pilot project funded by the Mellon Foundation, Performing Archive is still in its early stages of development. But more than that, we conceived of this project from the outset as a perpetually incomplete resource; one that invites participation, addition, revision, and reuse. There are many ways to perform 'archive' and we have only taken a first set of steps here.

The core content and the media collection gathered here exist as open resource to the public via a Creative Commons Share/Share Alike Non-Commercial license. Much of what exists here does so because of similarly (or more!) open digital publications. We have included the relevant metadata, please be sure to cite appropriately when reusing our materials. We also encourage users to make their own Scalar book drawing on our materials - you can read more about that here.

We designed our project so as to encourage comments at any point - simply click on the speech bubbles at the bottom of each page to comment. In addition to any feedback integrated into the book as "comments," we invite proposals for more substantial contributions: paths, pages, media galleries, essays, etc. We will happily set you up as a contributor within our Scalar book and talk with you about the conventions for digital authoring. We would also like to connect and link to any future projects that make use of the resources here. Alongside of the general public, we are particularly interested in collaborating with scholars, teachers, researchers, artists, tribal historians, activists and other stakeholders. To get in touch, please see the contact us page.
