Motherhood in Alice and Wonderland and The Junglebook

Mothers and the Post Atomic Era

In the post atomic era we see a change in what it means to be a mother. Woman are no longer forced to stay at home and watch the children and take care of the household. Word War 2 brought a change in woman's roles and they refused to go back to the old ways after the war was over. Children were forced to seek out other mother roles and to teach themselves important life lessons. The nuclear family was forever changed. Both of these post atomic stories show children being forced to seek out other mother figures then their own because theirs is not in the picture. These stories also show the children's personal growth by themselves without a mother figure to guide them.
