Matthew David Parker Shares his love of Crossfit

The founder and owner of Matthew David Parker Photography, Matthew David Parker is a passionate and successful property investor who remains deeply committed to educating others regarding the most effective property investment principles. A resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, Matthew also coordinates a monthly photography meet-up, the latter of which has allowed Matthew to work with other photographers in need of assistance with business development. An avid reader and CrossFit enthusiast, Matthew has two children he raises with his wife, Samantha, and he often looks forward to spending his free time in the company of his family.

2. What is your hobby?

I enjoy reading quite a bit, but when I’m looking to be a bit more active I usually do CrossFit.

3. How did you get started with this hobby? What inspired you?

Being healthy and physically fit is important to me, and I found CrossFit to be far more engaging than many of the more traditional types of fitness training.

One of the benefits of CrossFit is that you can work out just about anywhere.


4. Tell us what you love about it.

It’s always different, so you don’t ever feel that sense of monotony that tends to occur with other fitness programs. I’ve yet to feel anything other than excitement about the idea of an upcoming CrossFit session.

5. Are there any groups you’re a part of or events that you attend related to your hobby?

Yes, there’s a CrossFit facility close to my home and many of us get together outside of CrossFit for other recreational activities.

6. Have you had to invest in equipment and if so, please share some of the things you’ve bought.

Nothing other than workout clothes and a pair of good shoes. One of the benefits of CrossFit is that you can work out just about anywhere.

7. Where do you buy most of your supplies?

I do occasionally use chalk to get a better grip during workouts, but they have that in stock at the CrossFit facility.

8. Are there any good books for beginners?

“The Power of Community: CrossFit and the Force of Human Connection” was one of the first books I read when I began CrossFit training.

9. How has this changed your life?

Not only am I more physically fit, but I feel a greater sense of confidence in all aspects of my life.

10. What advice do you have for others starting out with this hobby?

Listen to the advice of those who are more experienced when you are first starting out. Lots of people make the mistake of trying to prove something during their first session and wind up sore or hurt as a result.

11. Are there any other hobbies you have?

Like I mentioned, I am an avid reader and almost always have a book with me in case I have a few moments in which I can get some reading done wherever I happen to be. Since I live close to the water, my family and I have also been getting more involved in watersports and other activities involving the ocean.
