Introduction to Digital Humanities

Part of a broader computational turn within academia, the digital humanities encompass a wide range of methods and practices including, but not limited to, text analysis, network analysis, spatial analysis, data visualization, web programming, and software development. Characterized by collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches, the digital humanities bring together scholars, students, librarians, technologists, and new media artists to answer big questions with big data, use new media platforms to increase public engagement with the humanities, and develop ethical technologies and critical standards to create, describe, preserve, and provide access to digital heritage.
