Scalar 2 User's Guide

Utilities Tab

The Utilities tab allows you to import and export content from Scalar books and to use Scalar's API Explorer.

Import tab. Import content and relationships into a Scalar book.

Book URL. Import content and relationships from a public Scalar book by pasting its URL into the field for “Source Scalar Book.”

Paste Text. Place text into the area below of type: Scalar-formatted RDF-JSON, individual RDF-JSON nodes, or CSV with header fields from Scalar ontologies.

Upload File. Select a file from your computer of type: Scalar-formatted RDF-JSON, individual RDF-JSON nodes, or CSV with header fields from Scalar ontologies.

Export tab. Export your Scalar book as either RDF-JSON or RDF-XML

API Explorer. The API Explorer walks you through the process of creating an API query for your book. This can be useful if you're planning to use your Scalar data elsewhere, such as in a custom interface or visualization. In addition, the end of the process includes a word count feature which can be used to calculate an approximate word count for your query—even if that query encompasses the entire book.

For more information about the Scalar API, see Working with the API.
