Above is a performance of Chiara Margarita Cozzolani's Vespro della Beata Virgine, or Vesper of the Blessed Virgin. Vespers were sunset prayers in the Catholic Church, and likely were performed each night at her convent. In this, her tendency for repetition is evident. Additionally, the "answering" between the voice and the strings was typical of her compositions. ¹ ³
