Marianna Martines' music is still suffering from the negative reactions of society after her death. Even today, very few of her pieces are performed. I was unable to find any recordings of her sacred music, but the video of one of her cantatas above can give an idea to her style. Given her time spent with Mozart and Haydn, elements of their style can be heard in her compositions. Her cantatas were composed "purely for her own delight" and not to serve any purpose beyond her enjoyment; as an experienced singer, she may have written them for her own performance.¹ ²
