Orkneyinga Saga

The Orkneyinga Saga, like Beowulf, was a saga written about one country's origin but having the provenance of another country entirely. Written in Iceland around 1230, Orkneyinga Saga's author took advantage of Iceland's rich oral and written saga history to write the ultimate account of Orkney's political and cultural relationship with Scotland, Norway, and Orcadian culture as a whole.
