Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

As an English major with a concentration in writing this semester was quite interesting. The semester I took courses relating to my new major: Writing in the Digital Age, Intro to New Media, Writing for the Web, and Literature in the Digital Age. This Scalar portfolio showcases my work for the class, Writing in the Digital Age. I designed this book linearly with text and visuals such as images and videos. Most pages are text emphasis. I used applications on my iPhone for some media that you will see in some pages. This semester I have used Wordpress for blogposts and Prezi for presentations. I have learned a lot about writing and designing for the online content. Digital writing is important today because digital technology and new media has become such an integral and daily part of our society. My video provides my thoughts on digital writing and one of the concepts I learned this semester.
