Themes of Death Depicted in Electronic Literature

Introduction

Themes of Death Depicted in Electronic Literature is an exhibit of online literature that explores different notions of death within three works. Each chapter is designated to an individual work analyzed by three distinct authors. 
The first chapter titled “Girl’s Day Out” by Claire Daugherty focuses on Kerry Lawrynovicz’s online work Girl’s Day Out (2004). In this section the idea that death is often forgotten, but still there is explored through the imagery, mechanics and narrative of Lawrynovicz’s piece. 
The second chapter “Everybody Dies,” is an analysis of Jim Munroe’s work Everybody Dies (2008) by Connor Forrest  This chapter highlights Munroe’s depiction of death as well as its redemptive qualities and further details Munroe’s description of death being a necessary inevitability in the cycle that is life.           
The last chapter is titled “This Is How You Will Die”  by Snigdha Chawla and  focuses on Jason Nelson’s online work This Is How You Will Die which was originally published in 2005 and is a random death generator which tells you how you will die.This work attempts to explore the randomness that is characteristic of death. The author examined the work by using many different aspects to analyse it, that is its narrative, background and audio, the similarity between this work and other works by the same author etc.  

Themes of Death Depicted in Electronic Literature is navigated by selecting a chapter and following the path the chapter provides unto completion. Then the reader will be navigated back to the introduction where they may select another chapter or reread a previous chapter.
