Hello C2C Members:

Welcome to the Spring/Summer 2018 edition of C2C Digital Magazine!  There are a variety of informative articles that I know you will enjoy.  In this edition, there is a quick glance of what to expect at SIDLIT 2018!  Thanks to the digital magazine’s subcommittee who have worked hard on this edition.

A few of the topics for this year’s SIDLIT Conference include:

Do not forget the LMS Pre-Conference on August 1 (Wed.) at JCCC’s Co-Lab.  This conference features tracks for Administrators, Instructional Designers, Faculty/Instructors/Teachers, Educational Technologists, and Librarians and others.  Again, we will have our LMS Panel Discussion (hosted by Dr. Rob Gibson), so bring your questions.  This subcommittee is working hard to bring you up-to-date information. This year the SIDLIT Social is at Johnny’s Tavern Ridgeview (10384 S. Ridgeview Rd, Olathe, KS) starting at 5:30 on August 1.  Please join us for this informal get together. Thank you to Fort Hays State University for donating appetizers.

I felt privileged and deeply enjoyed being C2C’s Chairperson this year.  The Steering Committee has accomplished many positive changes. Below is a list of accomplishments.

I would like to thank each one of you.  This year has been one of toughest financially for schools.  However, our C2C community is still going strong.

In addition, I would like to thank the amazing and talented Steering Committee for their hard work.  The Committee is voluntary, and they have spent countless hours on C2C business.  I would especially like to thank this year’s Co-Chair, Nicole Frank for always being there and talking through issues with me. She is going to make an excellent Chair next year.  

SIDLIT 2018 is one you won’t want to miss.  I look forward to meeting you at the conference.  Do not forget to register at SIDLIT Registration.

Kendra L. Barker joined the staff of the Collaborative of Advance Health Services at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Nursing and Health Studies in 2014 as an Instructional Design Specialist. Barker creates e-Learning courses focused on the learner and utilizes a variety of design elements to engage and reach all learning types. She also provides pedagogical and curricular consultation and design standards to other staff members and outside stakeholders. Barker assists staff in conducting educational research on instructional methodologies, specifically when technology mediated.  In addition, she is the lead in the Collaborative on 508 accessibility for courses, documents and websites.  Barker has an extensive background in faculty and staff training on new technologies available in building online courses, resources for e-learning, accessibility standards, and working with subject matter experts.  She has a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, and a Master’s in Learning Systems Design and Development.
