Morality in The Road
For this piece, we could do anything that related to Cormac McCarthy’s The Road. I chose to talk about morality because it was a central topic of the books and essential to the boy’s character. The first version that I created was fairly rough, Camtasia was again not cooperating and would crash every now and then.

One of the main problems of my video was the stagnation of the images. This, coupled with long narration pieces, made it feel like my video was an essay read out loud. In a sense, it was, but the goal was to make it more engaging than that. To do so, I tried to find videos and pictures that demonstrated the ideas I was talking about. I generally found pictures and clips of 'moral' behavior, or helping others, and 'amoral' behavior, or genocides and murder. In some cases these may come across as strong or shocking, though the topic and the book warrant that to an extent. It also adds a bit of shock value to the imagines, which helps keep the audience's attention. I put a fair amount of images into the video and in a few different ways to continue diversifying. I think this helped break up some of the larger chunks of information, especially when I am talking.
Another big edit I made was to cut down the last clip from the movie The Road. It was unnecessarily long and I did not need all of it to make my point, so I managed to edit it so that the gap does not seem too out of place. The volume levels had to be adjusted in some cases, which was fairly hard because the volume on the clips of The Road were soft to begin with. I could have re-recorded it, but instead I decided to lower the volume of everything else instead (there were only two other tracks with audio thankfully). This worked, though now the volume has to be turned up a bit higher than usual.
