Arthur Rudolph

Arthur Rudolph was a rocket scientist in Germany during World War 2, leading and helping to create the V-2 rocket along von Braun. He was born 1906 in the German Empire, and joining the Nazi party in 1931. ALong withe con Braun he was brought into the US with Operation Paperclip and was put to work Ordnance Research and Development Division at Fort Bliss in Texas, US.

He would need to be sent to mexico as to gaina  visa in order to continue living in the US, being sent to Juarez Mexico, officially immagrating to the US on April 14th, 1949.

Also during 1949, the FBI held a inquiry into Arthur, asking for a statement about working for the Nazi party, he responded: "Until 1930 I sympathized with the social democratic party, voted for it and was a member of a socialdemocratic union. After 1930 the economical situation became so serious that it appeared to me to be headed for catastrophy. The great amount of unemployment caused expansion of nationalsoc. and communistic parties. Frightened that the latter one would become the government I Joined the NSDAP to help, I believed in the preservation of the western culture."

After this he was transferred to Huntsville Alabama, to work at Redstone Arsenal, which was later renamed the Ordance Guided Missile Center, even being appointed as the Technical Director of the project itself in 1956.

In 1961 he would go on to work for NASA, along side von Braun once again, becoming the Assistant Director of Systems Engineering. He continued to serve as the Project Director for the Saturn V rocket from 1963 to 1968. He retired from NASA at the end of 1969.

Rudolph was eventually found to be apart of the various reports of forced labour in Mittelwerk(Where the V-2 was Designed and Built) and was investigated by the OSI( Office of Special Investigations). He was given a chance to return to Germany so he would not be prosecuted in the US, which he did, leading to him returning to Germany and eventually gaining citizenship there again.

Arthur Rudolph died in Germany on the first of Janurary 1996.
