Rather than approach Third World Majority and their products as objects of study whose methods and analyses the more sophisticated language of critical theory might correct or describe more satisfactorily, From Third Cinema to Media Justice: Third World Majority and the Promise of Third Cinema assumes that the cultural products of media movementsthemselves are complex forms of knowledge about and engaged interventions into the dominant discourses that animate our current conjuncture. By assuming that contemporary media movements are animated by a set of concepts, analyses, and aims that are related to, even if different from, those animating the critical theory circulating in the academy, From Third Cinema to Media Justice: Third World Majority and the Promise of Third Cinema seeks to enhance both modes of knowledge production.
