Leonard Norman Primiano

Leonard Norman Primiano is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Religious Studies at Cabrini College, Radnor, PA, where he is also Co-Director of the Honors Program. With a Master of Theolog-ical Studies from the Harvard Divinity School and a dual doctorate in Religious Studies and Folklore and Folk-life Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, he has been involved in ethnographic research and writing on a number of American religious communities from Roman Catholics to Father Divine’s Peace Mission Move-ment. A member of the Teagle Foundation-sponsored American Folklore Society working group on “What is the Relationship Between Lay and Expert Knowledge in a Complex Society?,” his most recent publications have been on the visual culture of religion on American television (2009, 2010) and the expressive culture of the Peace Mission as objects of memory and belief (2004, 2009, 2011).
