codework

The code of the project is resituated by the texts that respond to it, that co-evolve with it.  Traditionally, that might include external documentation but also outside commentary on the software or even the discourse on the programming paradigms within the code, not to mention other code.  Arguably, a piece of code becomes meaningful only in the atmosphere of other code objects.  The resonance of the source code can also be affected by codework.

Codework is a genre of poetry that plays with the symbols of programming.  Whether executable or not, codework renders the coding signs poetic or reveals the poetry of these signs.

EDT member, micha cardenas has composed a code on the theme of the Transborder Immigrant Tool, playing directly with some of the code within it and certainly the larger political contexts.
