The Role of Artistic Creativity in the Lives of Israeli Emigres in Los Angeles

Yoella Razili

Yoella Razili: Resource, Re-purpose, Renew

by James Gao

An Israeli-born minimalist artist, Yoella Razili creates objects that present balance, unity and stillness from her studio located in Los Angeles, California. Razili, having obtained her Master of Fine Arts from Otis College of Art and Design (Los Angeles) in 1981, has since specialized on working with found materials and paint. Her works, heavily influence by the American 1960s-1970s Minimalism and Art Povera movements, provide an alternate take on present-day abstract art. Razili applies concepts of form, texture, color and material into repurposing old items into new art pieces.
