The 1950s

Miami (excluding Miami Beach) had four main theaters in this decade: The Coral Gables Theater (Coral Gables, 1930s), The Ring at the University of Miami (Coral Gables, 1951), The Coconut Grove Playhouse (Coconut Grove, 1956), and The Lyric Theater (Central Negro District [sic], 1913). The Olympia Theater closed in 1950 and would not open till late 1970s.
