Laura Grantmyre

Laura Grantmyre earned her Ph.D. in History from the University of Pittsburgh in December 2013. She is currently teaching as an adjunct instructor at Point Park University in Pittsburgh. This article is drawn from her dissertation, which is entitled "Conflicting Visual Representations of Redevelopment in Pittsburgh's Hill District, 1943-1968." The dissertation will be available via ProQuest's Digital Dissertation database sometime this spring. Her M.A. thesis examined the social integration of African American drag queens in Pittsburgh's Hill District from the 1920s to the 1950s. A revised version of the thesis was published by American Quarterly in December 2011.
